X.O.Genesis is an experimental short that mashes sci-fi tropes with a painterly universe. An epic frenzy of animation, it is a collaboration between artist James Robinson and filmmaker Rowan Wernham.

-

From Rowan Wernham: "I wanted to take an artists world and bring it to life in a narrative sense. Rather than document the artistic process we decided to animate a space opera, but the film is still essentially a narrative about inspiration and creation."

-

From James Robinson: "I SEE A ARMADA...MOTHERSHIPS...FIGHTERS..WARSHIPS AND CRUSELINERS.
THEY WILL BE MADE FROM MANKY MATERIALS IN A ROUGH N READY STYLE. CARDBOARD...GLUE MASKINGTAPE WIRE BOTTLES AND RANDOM APPROPRIATED OBJECTS.
STAINED WITH BATTLE OR GLORIOUSLY FROM A HIGHER PLANE OF EXISTENCE COME TO POPULATE TH HEAVENS WITH PSYCHIC GOD LOVING HIPPYS IN SILVER ROBES

TO MAKE LOWBROW SPACESHIPS IN THE MANNER I PROPOSE IS TO CLAIM BACK IN A SENSE THE INSPIRATION AND DREAM FROM THE TYRANTS OF THE HOLLYWOOD MONOPOLISTIC CULTURE MACHINE THAT WOULD HOLD OUR IMAGINATIONS HOSTAGE TO THEIR MECHANDISING !
I WILL CLAIM BACK THE FORCE! WITH CADBOARD GLUE FELT PEN AND FISHING LINE..
